It’s All About Relationships

In a world filled with due dates, meetings, busy schedules, and the stress of running from place to place, it’s hard to find time to fit in everything you want to do or everything you told people you would do. There is just so much to do; sometimes things just don’t get completed. In fact, I, myself, have been so overwhelmingly busy that I completely passed over the time that this article was to be due for the bulletin! When we wake in the morning, sometimes we make a mental (or physical) list of everything we plan on getting done that day. But, when you make that list, do you list having a quiet time or spending time in The Word at the top of your list? Is it at the bottom? Is it even on your list?

God wants to have a relationship with us. Our relationships on earth have no meaning and cease to exist when we do not spend time with that person. It has been said that when you spend all your time with a person you begin to act, look, and think like that person—“show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”. I don’t know about you but I want to spend so much time with God that I begin to act, think, and look like Him. We need to force ourselves to make time to spend with God, and make it habit. For God calls us to be like him and is there any better way to be like him than to know him through and through? I think not.

This is a bit of what Randee and I have been talking about with our youth group lately. We are both so excited to be with this youth grup and to follow God’s call on our life. We look forward to working with the youth and helping to mature and grow their relationships with God. We are already amazed by the number of students who have been to youth group since we have started—23 different youth. We have been having an average of 16 students per meeting and know that God is going to grow this into a healthy group that will do wonderful and miraculous things for Christ and his kingdom. God has truly worked a miracle at Grassland Church that led to the renewal of the youth group and I know that this is only the beginning of something wonderful.

haha. i was just reading about this in the novel, the shack. And this has been what i’ve been trying to work on…my relationship with Christ. And then my earthly relationships…things seem to be in a loving manner most of the time.
